Background
The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) has provided funding for twelve Research Chairs located in the Global South, establishing the IDRC Research Chairs Network on Forced Displacement. A key priority has been the encouraging of collaboration between Chairs to conduct comparative research within and across geographic regions. The Local Engagement Refugee Research Network at Carleton University (LERRN), as a close partner of IDRC, has been tasked to facilitate collaboration between Research Chairs.
From 30 May to 1 June 2023, IDRC and LERRN held their first workshop in Dar es-Salaam, Tanzania, assembling Chairs from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. In advance of this workshop, LERRN supported research aimed at identifying collaborative potential between Chairs. Leading to the production of a briefing note, this research conducted a scoping review of published work by IDRC-funded Research Chairs. With each Chair being interviewed through this project, resulting qualitative data also contributed to the this briefing note.
